Too many permissions required by apps

I am new to this forum and I have looked and maybe missed a discussion on this topic, sorry if I missed it.

I have been noticing many app upgrades coming from google play that now require permissions to use the phone to make calls, gather contacts, and find all accounts on the phone. Being unwilling to give apps access that not long ago was considered malware and bad, I have been refusing the upgrade and uninstalling the app.

Is this where honest companies start becoming dishonest.......

That's why I'm glad we have options, we can either choose to accept or deny.
