I just made my first app: RestYourDroid. It offers a REST api which allows you to access and control your device remotely.
The API offers a large number of methods, you can find the full list at http://restyourdroid.com.
Some cool demo's of the API:
Create a timelapse video
Ask your colleagues their lunch order
Monitor a website and notify you when it goes down
Get the free 'local' version (which allows you to access the device from your local network):

The 'global' version allows you to access the device from anywhere on the internet:
