Help Top screen broken, can't pull down notifications to allow phone to connect to PC

Blanchem

Lurker
I dropped my phone @ ikea in september and the touch-sensors broke only at the top half of my phone.

I can't pull down my notifications button. WHICH means I can't click the notification to allow my phone to connect to my PC To let me grab my photos off my phone folder.

HOW in the android settings, can I try to get around this? I need some of the files off of it.

Go into the developer options settings (if you can't see those go into "about phone" and tap repeatedly on the "build number" until it informs you that you are now a developer - someone in Google thinks that this is clever or cute, they are wrong either way). There should be an option in there to set the default usb mode or configuration. Try changing that to MTP.

Plan B is to enable usb debugging and install ADB on your computer, but this should be simpler.
