totally new at this. any pointers appreciated

Hi everyone, think I'm in the right place.
I have just purchased a galaxy s GT-19000T.. I know how to turn it on, after that it is back to the manual lol.
Anyone with helpful tips, ideas about what apps etc would be most handy to load would be appreciated. Also ideas on where to download them from would be magic.
I think the old nokia is about to become a dust gatherer in the corner lol

For apps, go to your market..... you will need to get a gmail account first.
