Help Touble installing apps

cupraman

Newbie
I've downloaded a couple of apps to try before I buy. My problem is I can open the file to install using astro/es file explorer and get to the install screen but the install button doesn't do anything. I have the "install unknown apps" ticked in security but still struggling. I have no security software installed which could be stopping it and am running 4.0.4 and since 4.1.

Can you elaborate on "try before I buy"? Are these paid apps that you've downloaded outwith the Play Store for free?

If yes, aside from the security risks of installing from a non legitimate source, it's not something we can really assist you with as it's essentially piracy, despite your intentions.

If I'm wrong, feel free to put me on the right track and I'll do what I can to assist.

Sorry i'll elaborate its a app called "dsp manager" which is from the CyanogenMod rom, which some one from xda extracted. Sorry about buy I was meaning donate if I liked the app, to help future development of roms. Have posted on xda for help under HTC One X, themes and apps. Hope that helps.

Ah ok, thanks. :)

I thought you needed root to install that, but looking at the thread on XDA, it appears not.

Rather than use ES or Astro, have you tried any of the dedicated apk installers available on the market?

Hi I installed easy installer and ticked the app I wanted to install. I still get to the install page with all the permissions showing and the cancel and install buttons at the bottom, but still no response from pressing install just the cancel button works. At a loss, tried unticking and re ticking install apps from sd then restart but no joy. All I can think is the recent update to 2.17.401.2 has changed something.

I wonder if it needs root now? Looking at other install instructions around the web, you need to install some lib files along with it.

Thanks for the help, got some advise from xda guys. Worked out it was a third party app running that was causing a conflict. Stopped the process from running and everything installs perfectly now. Never even crossed my mind. The app was a screen adjuster and seems to be a common problem. Thanks again El Presidente
