Touch activation weirdness

Hello,

I had my S8 for about two weeks now, and I've started noticing that sometimes when I press an icon the app won't launch, sometimes making me press the same icon up to 2-3 times more.
I have enabled the "show touches" feature in developer settings (a few days ago), and I can see the touch indicator whenever I touch the screen, and when the issue manifests I can indeed see the touches while the app doesn't activate.

I can't tell if this happened before the device was fitted with a silicone screen protector.

I would appreciate any thoughts about this.

Does the problem happen on every app or is it just a particular app? Three's at least one app on my phone that I'm not too surprised if it freezes.

I've never used that app myself but if that's where the problem seems to be and not other apps, then my guess would be it's the app

I can't tell yet. It's frustrating trying to recreate it.

Though I did press other icons before it launched, I have no idea how this makes sense, Android senses the touch but doesn't act on it.

Sounds like it's registered the touch, but the app is lagging possibly? I've never used Reddit myself.
