Can you see any oil slick like pattern on the screen? If so, it means the screen has collapsed and probably needs replacing. How long have you had it?

If so, then the getting wet might just be coincidence.

thanks for your reply...

the screen is as clean as a whistle! No marks or slicks at all! I have always had a screen guard attached, but made sure to take that off in my attempts to fix things, but that doesnt alter the fault at all!

I have had the phone for about 9 months now, so i am hoping its still under warranty, which i think it is!

An addition. I have just been reading up a little more on this. I was wrong it could be liquid in the screen (there was a post somewhere on XDA that thought they might have moisture in it).

I personally still think it unlikely, and more likely that the screen has just collapsed.

I too have had my phone 9 months and last week it developed these 'Newton Rings'.

Same happened to mine though it never got wet. It is still within warranty, HTC said it got wet and was beyond repair (i can't prove it didnt). Whats the point of a guarantee? HTC should be shot - Ive gone back to an old Nokia as they still work!
