Touchless Controls updated

I haven't tried this yet. The next time I take a long car ride I bet it will come in handy, though.

Who needs a car ride to play? I'm sitting here at my laptop with my phone right next to me and every time I get a notification I make it read it to me! It's the best update ever! lol

I'm trying to get this to work. What am I doing wrong? I'm saying "OK Google now, what's up?" and it goes into search mode. Not reading any notification.

OK, figured it out. I just moved from the noisy bedroom where the baby and kids were talking to the quite kitchen and it worked perfect. This phone is pretty cool.

Looks like Jennay was just in a noisy area so it wasn't hearing her.

All you do is 'wake' your phone with the OK Google phrase then ask 'what's up?' and it will read your notifications to you. Pretty darn neat and handy!

Clem is right. It was noisy in the bedroom with the kids talking, yelling, and laughing. Once I moved into the kitchen where it was quite, I used Google now and it worked perfectly.

Anyone having trouble with Touchless Controls following through on a command it understood? It seems to happen mostly (or only) with PIN lock enabled, but if I tell it to launch an app, it responds with "launching app", and then never launches the app. Or if I tell it to send a text message, it confirms the message, I tell it "yes" (send it), it then says "message sent", but the message has not been sent.

Am I the only one having this problem since the update?

OK, with pin lock on I was able to send a text (had to try twice to get the message right, noisy background) and launch a few apps with no trouble.

OK Googorola, launch Feedly. Say or type pin. ####. Launched with no trouble. Same for a few others, it would hear me and ask for my pin, enter it (voice) and app would launch.

Have you tried uninstalling the update and re-installing it? Or clearing cache?

Except for the background noise issue with the body of the text mine worked with pin lock on.

Clearing cache and restarting the phone did nothing. I decided to try that first since the uptime was hovering around 30 days. Removing updates appears to have solved the problem, but I want to give a good run through before installing the update again.

When trouble arrives in conjunction with an update, I immediately jump to the conclusion that the only possible fix is another update, now more than ever before since I stopped rooting my phones and don't have historical archives of previous app versions generated automatically by Titanium Backup.

Thanks for bringing me back to basics. Even if the update is an issue again, I'll gladly forego the update for reliable performance, and hope that yet another update will address the issue for me.

Continuing with the prior version showed it to be reliable, but when I went to update again, an even newer version was in the Play Store. The problem hasn't reappeared since updating.
