Help TP, WNDR3700v3, DLNA

Just picked up a Netgear N600 (WNDR3700v3) yesterday, hoping to use it as a media hub for streaming movies, music, etc., with a USB HD (Western Digital MyBook 2TB wdBAAU0020 HBK-01). Most everything runs smoothly: I can connect both of my Android devices (TP and Galaxy Nexus, neither rooted) to the router, and I can move files to and from the external HD using ES File Explorer.

What I can't do is stream movies or music. I've tried two different apps (aVia and MediaHouse). aVia worked fine at first, but then the the HD only showed up sporadically under My Sources; now, it doesn't show up at all.

Anyone have thoughts on this? Am I just missing something? I can stream media from the HD to other devices (an ASUS desktop, OG Macbook, and a Dell netbook), so I don't think it's the router.

Have you tried MyNet it comes with the Prime from Asus

The other devices can see the HD because they have built in capabilities to do so.

You'd need to use a program on the computer that is connected to the HD similar to Nero MediaHome that acts as a server to your files.

Your android devices (and your PS3 etc) can then connect to the server and stream and play your files.

Hi ComposersGuilt,

I'm kind of like a blind squirrel here, but try BubbleUPnP, it allows me to play the music on my Prime on the stereo via the Samsung SmartTv, hopefully that'll help.

Have you tried just opening (instead of transferring) the files from ES File Explorer?

I have a similar setup, but I haven't tried streaming from my router/HD to my Prime.
