Help Trackball Pulse Notification...

GraceFace

Lurker
Hi, I'm new here & was wondering if there was ANY way to make it so that the trackball blinks more often than it does when I have a notification? It really irritates me how slow the rate is... I have to stare at it for like 10 seconds to know if I have a new message or not in class! Thanks :)

I agree 100%! I wish it worked like the sidekick's trackball where it's a constant pulse until you check the phone.

Just download Handcet sms from the Android market its free and use that. Its better than the default sms on the nexus plus lots of settings to change pulse frequency. Go to notification settings there is led flash frequency with the choice of default, fast normal, slow or custom or go to light trackball settings and you can adjust from never, 2 seconds, 5 seconds 10 or 20 up to 1 minute. There is also an option to change the colour of the led but im sure this doesnt work on the nexus one just incase you tried it.

you dont have a nexus do you?

Forgot to mention go into message settings of the default sms on the Nexus and untick Auto-retrieve and Notifications. This stops you getting the same message to both apps.

Wolfman99. you do realize that the trackball colors do not change just because you have Handcent right, because your statement sure makes it sound like that. That is not an option on a stock N1 yet. Yes the settings are built into Handcent but the firmware overrides the colors so it only does white for now

Actually, he pretty clearly stated that he is "sure this doesnt work on the nexus one just incase you tried it."

Sounds like already knows this to me.

LOL.. sounds like everyone needs to read his post again.

He is recommending Handcent because of the added settings, I don't think you'll find those on the phone.

And its stated already, but yes, he did say that you won't be able to change the trackball colors.

You did a good job Wolfman, don't mind them.

i think you all need to read the original post. she was asking can you increase the amount of time/speed of trackball flash. nothing to do with colors or handsent.

*sigh* Again, wait, no, here let me quote it because for some reason people are reluctant to scroll up and read his post.

@ROBIN50N lol.. well sure if the solution has nothing to do with the problem. then I guess your on to something...

notification? missed call email? not just text.

I would prefer both....Fast pulse in white/or other color for missed messages and another color for missed calls....Like the Sidekick has.

If you root the phone you can download Trackballcolornotify and it changes the frequency it lights up at and also the color :) Works great

But definitely "light blue" not white. I guess if I had all the other colors I might see it as white. Still though, first thing that came to mind when I saw it light up.. "oh the little ball turns blue, neat."

Yeah man when you see the blue, there is no doubt it's blue. It's deep and rich.

I think you just don't have a frame of reference because the white light is definitely on the cool side of white. Try and hook up a BT headset to it and then I *think* you'll see what I mean.

This guy has an app that JUST allows you to change how often the trackball blinks and nothing else:
