Help Tracking phone-Turning on phone

I lost my phone (or it was possibly stolen) last weekFriday, and as soon as I noticed it was gone I had a friend try calling it and it was turned off. I have the Galaxy S5 and I have only had it since December, the battery life on my phone is pretty amazing, and it was at 44% so there is no reason it would be off, aslo since I had sent a text about five minutes prior. Well I of course asked around and no one had seen it and told the place of establishment to contact me if it turned up. Within the week I downloaded some tracking apps on to my phone(using the app play store from my computer), the only problem being that in order for them to work, my phone has to run the app, in order for the app to run my phone has to be on. One thing that is nice about Anrdroid phones that I found out is from the Android Device Manager you can apparently track your phone. It tells you the last time your phone was online, which every time I check it still says Febuary 20th, but like the others it can't track the phone unless it is on.
So here comes the question, if you've kept with me thus far.
Is there anyway that I can turn my phone on without of course having it in front of me? I heard that there were a few softwares that could do that I have no idea what they are though.
If someone could give me help in anyway with getting my phone back, it would be much appreciated.

I'm so sorry your phone is missing. It happened to my wife a few months back. First, you must report it as stolen to stop any unauthorized use. I don't really have much good news for you. You can't add further tracking software remotely if your OS is Kitkat or above. Secondly, it cant be switched on remotely. Android Device Manager is working so that's something but who knows whats happened to it if it hasn't been online in over a week.
I hope it turns up.

If you think logically about it, how could you turn it on remotely? For that to be possible the phone has to be able to receive a signal and respond to it, which means it isn't off in the first place.

It's not just a matter of installing software anyway, it has to run before it can work. Back in the 2.3 days you could do this (e.g. Lookout's Plan B) but that hasn't been possible since 4.0.

Sorry, but Pugs is right - nothing more to do than follow his advice.

Hi Guys,

I had my phone stolen yesterday. the person actually switched it on and I had location some 40 miles away from me. I asked the police but they are not very helpful obviously. After I found that it was stolen. I changed my gmail password and locked the phone remotely.

I was wondering if I could still track the phone or not, as I have signed out of the account. Please help and thank you

Probably not would be my guess, but have you tried? I assume this is using Android Device Manager (you don't say what the tracking software was).

If the police won't help one other thing to do is notify your network and get the phone blacklisted.

yeah I was tracking through android device manager and also the google location services. I actually have a address but the police didnt seem to care much. I dont know what I can do. The police said that they get a billion complains everyday. they ll look what they can do....even after providing them with a address.
