Finally! The FDA has declared that trans fats are no longer “generally recognized as safe” - after a mere two or three decades of mounting evidence.

Hopefully, food industry bribery - sorry! political lobbying - won't manage to block the latest proposed ban (yet again) and the US will finally see the end of these killer non-foods.

Wonder how long it'll be before the various govts get around to acting here in europe ..

Hoping this won't get too political, but I agree. I just want simple labeling of things.
Will take so much longer, but GMO's need to be labeled on foods. Hasn't passed in any state yet, but I hope it does soon.

But F.D.A. officials said they would give companies plenty of time to adjust to the new rules.

Does anyone know when this will take effect? The article doesn't specify.

I think it's still up for discussion. Doubtless the 'food' companies will be dragging their feet so I wouldn't expect anything any time soon.
