Transfer files betwen MicroSD cards?

I just upgraded to the V20 from the LGVX8300 - don't laugh, it was a great phone until its battery died, plus my kids have been bugging me to get a smartphone. I had a 1GB MircoSD card in the 8300 that I have successfully added to the V20. I've ordered a 64GB card and want to transfer the files from the old card (and add new files from my computer) to the new card.

I used a program called bitpim to add files and edit contact info from my computer to the VX8300 card using a data cable. However, bitpim has not been updated to handle smartphones.

When I use the USB ports on my computer to charge the V20, the phone shows as VS995 in file manager, but Win7 does not see or access the V20's folders and files.

Is there an easier way to accomplish my tasks than using my computer to 1) format the new card, 2) copy the folders and files from the old sd card to the new one, and 3) add the computer files (mp3s) to the new card?

TIA

1) you only format the new SD card on the new phone. Formating it on the computer does no good.

2) use your computer via usb cord to transfer files. You may have to install some LG software on your computer so the computer will recognize the phone. Also you'll need to make sure when you plug into the computer that the phone connects as a mass storage device.

3) same as line 2 above. Should be able to do drag and drop, from computer files and drop into phones sd files.

you did say win 7 right. when you plug up with v20 - make sure you pick up on the notification bar item for USB options - and select file transfer. it might blink and say something about drivers or it might not. but in a bit or 2 you'll see the phone as drive device in windows explorer.

push move paste as you normally would. but keep in mind what folders your are moving to and the like.

push files from computer to new card though the phone.

Thanks for the help. I'll let you what worked. I thought the MicroSD would be here today - I guess it's in the holiday rush.

I got the transfer done today. I used two SD card readers on two of the computers USB ports, one SD card reader plugged with the new 64GB card and one for the existing 1 GB card:
-- formatted the new 64 GB card with Win7
-- used the phone settings to eject the 1 GB card from the LG V20
-- put the 1 GB card into the second USB SD card reader
-- copied the 1 GB card to the newly formatted 64GB card
-- removed the 1 GB card from its computer USB port
-- copied the mp3 files from the computer into the my_music folder on the 64 GB MicroSD card
-- removed the 64 GB card from the computer and installed into the phone (and re-attached the phone's back cover)

I did lose the custom ringtones I had previously assigned, so I will have to re-set those.
Thanks for your help.

You don't need two card readers, simply use your computer as temporary storage.

Hi, I have a similar question: I have a Z3 Compact running Marshmallow, if I copy from the old sdcard to the new all the files via computer, will it work considering that 6.0 sees the card as internal storage?

probably not. Not familiar with the Z3 exactly but if your card was formated to be "merged" storage when you remove it you might lose some data even if you thought you copied over everything. IE there might be some hidden system files on it and things might not work until a factory reset.

I say might - mostly because I've never dealt with the merged storage mode but I've not read much positive about it.

Yes, I totally agree, "it might" :(
I can't find any resource about it, and I don't want to reset my phone for sure!
