I figured it out. I thought Id share since I couldnt find the solution on these forums.
Using GBCoid on Android and Visual Boy Advance on PC. Playing Pokemon Gold.
The problem was that I was trying to transfer Save States. But what I need to transfer was the actual in game save.
When you save in game on Android it gives you a file called GameTitle.sav. For me it was Pokemon Gold.sav but it will be whatever game you are playing.
You want to transfer that file to your PC.
Open VisualBoyAdvance. Start a new game with the same game you were playing on your Android. Save as soon as you can in the new game. Exit VisualBoy.
Find the folder that has the rom/game you were playing on VisualBoyAdvance. In that folder there should be a new file thats exactly like the one on your Android. ie GameTitle.sav
Then you want to replace the one in your PC folder with the one from your Android. Overwrite the existing GameTitle.sav.
Open VisualBoy. Load the game. Click 'Continue' like you would any other time.
Thats it. You should be able to then play your Android saved game on your PC.
And once you want to play it on your Android again. Just save the game on VisualBoy and transfer the GameTitle.sav back to your Android and replace the old one.
Hope this helps.
P.S. It wasn't working when I was trying to load the PC saved game back to Android. So I deleted the current Save States on my Android. For GBCoid they are usually GameTitle.ss0, GameTitle.ss1 etc etc. You need to delete the save states and have only the GameTitle.sav on your android.
