Transfer large file from phone to ext. harddisk

Hi guys!

I want to transfer a large file (10gb) from my phone to my external harddrive. But I can't do it. I can plugin my harddrive and watch everything on my phone, but it won't allow me to transfer this file? Any thoughts or tips?

Yeah, potentially. FAT32 can only handle a maximum file size of 4GB so it could be failing as a result of that.

What error message do you get when you try to copy stuff over?

But I can move from PC to harddisk with no problems.

Well, I use USB media explorer and when I mark a file, I can't choose either move nor copy. I can copy from the harddisk but not from the phone. Just realized it's not only large files but any file at all. Could it be the phone not able to charge enough power to the harddisk or should I use another app?

Actually I just tried clicking where I can choose between charging and transferring files and it says charge. When I hit the transfering files button the harddisk shuts down at starts again - but still at charging.

Yeh, that's very possible. Is the hard-disk actually powering up and spinning, and seeking? Phones are usually no problem with solid state storage via USB like flash-drives, but hard-disks require considerably more power. You might be able to use auxiliary power for the HDD from a power-brick, all depending on what make or model it is.

That definitely sounds like the HDD isn't getting enough power.

It's spinning and I can actually watch a movie from the harddisk on the phone. But it really sounds like a power-problem. What is this power-brick you mention? Can you give me a link to that?
