Transfer line upgrade

So, I have a dumb-phone line that I'm going to be cancelling next month and it's eligible for an upgrade, has been forever.
Two of the three smartphone lines are eligible for upgrades, one is not yet and that one is going to need a new phone sooner rather than later.
I don't think I've ever transferred upgrades from line to line or if I did I don't recall what happened to contract dates. Here's what I'm thinking/wondering...can I transfer the dumb-phone upgrade to the line that's not yet due and then cancel the dumb-phone line or is that the line that will be extended?
It may be a moot question as I would prefer to pick up phones from Swappa or classifieds here but just in case I decide to upgrade I'd like to know my options. None of the lines are primary, two have unlimited data and one has 2GB. I'm just trying to keep unlimited and keep my peeps happy too. It ain't easy!

yes you can transfer the upgrade and then cancel the dumbphone line...... once you transfer the upgrade the contract extension will apply to the other line........ but if that line has unlimited you will lose it

I just, at some level, can't see wasting the upgrade. The line I'd want to transfer it to does have unlimited and that's the one line that really (besides mine) needs to keep it. Dammit. I wouldn't care if it were either of the other two lines, they don't use that much (one is already only 2 GB, the other could be with no worry). Dammit.
