Transfer mobile phone airtime/credit?

I'm not sure where this thread goes but I assume somewhere in the Android Carriers section. However this can apply to any network and there's not a central Android Carriers forum.

Well I want to transfer my credit or some call it airtime into something like cash. In the UK I top up every month to get inclusive allowances, this top up is slowly gathering up, more and more. Before this happened I was paying for a online game called Runescape where I would use it to buy membership. Paying slightly more with this payment method but I wasn't too fussed. Tried Googling and I've found someone with a similar issue here http://www.hotukdeals.com/misc/what-do-with-o2-payg-credit-how-spend-useful-stuff-914883 but no real solutions (Might explain better).

Does anyone know how to transfer phone credit to cash, or know any useful services/products which it can pay for?

Don't top up so much? Use your phone more? Bigger data plan that allows streaming / tethering etc? Is it burning holes in your pocket that much, lol?

What about NFC chip? Not sure if it's available on carriers atm but you can get NFC sim or memory cards.

A quick look at o2 site suggests they do NFC but like a debit card. However, they do an app called "o2 wallet" which lets you send / recieve money by message (other person needs the o2 wallet app also), then spend online or transfer to bank account.
