Help Transfer text messages from phone to computer?

I'm trying to get the text messages off of my Android phone and onto my computer. I cant seem to figure out how to do it. Ive tried hooking up my phone with its usb cable and going through all of the files, and ive tried to figure out how to possibly transfer my texts onto the phones micro SD card. But I have been unsucessful. Anyone know how to do this??

Can't say it's 100% foolproof, but I noticed a bunch of text-saving apps in the Market (for free!) that can create backups to your microSD card. I'd say give that a try first; seems like the easiest solution.
