Transferring another cell number to my VM phone

I have another phone on T-Mobile and I don't want to cancel the service until I can test out my new Virgin Mobile phone, so I chose to activate my new VM phone with a new phone number.

What I'm wondering is if it's possible to transfer my T-Mobile phone number to my VM phone after it's already activated.

Does anyone happen to know the answer to this? I emailed VM about it but they haven't responded, and even if they do, they may not even understand what I'm asking.

My experience is that it SHOULD be possible, but getting Virgin Mobile to cooperate is another matter. Try calling Virgin Mobile and request the Porting Dept. I do not think the regular CSR's can help with this. Their Porting Dept is not open 24/7, so try calling during normal business hours.

You are correct in that you need to keep the T-Mobile phone active in order for the number porting to take place.

Good Luck.

Yes, you can do this. When I bought my phone and the people at the store activated it with new number instead of existing. I then had to call support to have them change it to my existing number, realfastone is correct in asking them to switch to the porting dept. It did take 2hrs though cause they tried to port the number (a few times)while the VM phone was still active with the new number which didn't work. They had to cancel the new number first then active it with the existing number (even though i suggested that at first but they told me that wasn't necessary). Even though it did take 2hrs the 2 or 3 techs I talked to where very nice and helpful (eventually), I started around 7pm and finished a few minutes after 9pm.
