Transferring Large Files and Data Usage

Hi All.
I have a G4 I"m pretty sure and I have 2 related questions. I am a musician and I like to video my music lessons then upload them to my Google drive so that I can then download them to my pc. The files end up being about 2gigs. This all works fine except it seems as though they are being transferred using my data plan instead of transferring by wifi even though I'm logged into my wifi network at home at the time. How can I force the phone to just use the wifi network? Is there a way to turn off the cellular service so that I'm only on wifi at the time of transferring?

The other solution to this problem is to get the phone to record the video to the micro sd card in the phone, then I could just take it out and plug it directly into pc for transfer. I've been able to set the photos so that they go to the card, but not the videos. I suspect that the phone doesn't want to transfer the videos to the card because the cpu isn't fast enough to handle the transfer to a card and can only record to internal memory with enough speed. So I think this is out.

Another solution is to plug the phone directly into the pc. But when I do that Windows Explorer will recognize the phone, but won't go beyond that, that is it won't show me any files that I could download.

Thanks in advance,
Ken

In Settings - Data there should be an option to turn off cellular data.

Or for the SD card after recording it transfer it from your phone to the SD card using a file explorer.

Thanks Kate: I found the data turn off switch which should solve the problem, but I don't see where I can transfer files from the internal memory to the card. Is there kind of a Windows Explore app to do this in? I'd like to be able to transfer the file to the card because it would make the whole process a lot easier.

P.S. I can't quite figure out how to reply with a quote. Any tips? I found the quote button and the insert button, but when I try to insert the quote I want it isn't listed.

Thanks Again!

Click on 'Quote' and then 'Reply' in the task menu at the bottom.

As for a file manager app, there are dozens available from the Play Store. Take a look at 'File Expert'. It's free and has a expansive feature set.

Another good, popular option is the pay-for Solid Explorer

Just do a search for 'file manager' for plenty of other viable alternatives. Read through the descriptions and take a look at the screen caps on each to find one that does what you want and has a user interface you're comfortable with.
