Transferring SMS messages to a new phone.

Hi All

I have a client who is moving from an HTC Desire to a Sony Xperia Arc, and was wondering if anyone has experience of moving the SMS texts between phones of different types (albeit both Android.)

There are apps like SMS Backup & Restore in the market. Just backup your texts, copy the backup file to your new phone, download the app again, and restore.

Some phones include an app that will do this for you over bluetooth - e.g. HTC.

SMS Backup+ is a good one. Backs up to your Gmail.

#1 for me too. I use this with all three of my android phones and haven't had a problem. (It runs in the background, so input from you once set up.) It even restores attachments.
