Transferring videos to a Mac

[Android Question]

I have a Samsung Galaxy phone and I want to transfer the files from my phone to my mac computer. I downloaded the Android File Transfer program, but the green icon on my Mac keeps telling me "Try reconnecting or restarting your device". Obviously that's not working. I can't get anywhere. Can you help me?
