Transform Internal HDD to External HDD

Ok so I'm planning to get a new laptop soon and I remembered that my old laptop had a 320 GB hard drive, now I want to try a and use that as an external HDD.

I know that I need a usb adapter, I found a few but I don't really know what kind to get. Here's what my HDD looks like:





Also how I format an external HDD?

you can get a SATA HDD dock (your HDD looks it)... you format exactly the same, your Laptop will boot off internal so no need

There are some really good 2.5 enclosures here. Personally I would go with the ICY DOCK MB663UB-1S-1. All of their enclosures are well built and dissipate heat very good. Plus $21.99 is a very good price for this.
