Traveling Internationally? Things to watch for:

Verizon data and voice plans have changed a lot. Here are my recommendations.
First, to enable calling log in to your My Verizon account and enable International Dialing. This is free. If you call a lot you can buy the $3.99 value plan which gives you a discount.
Global Texting generally costs .50 to send and .05 to receive each. Unfortunately I have encountered where each text gets sent up to six times and you get charged $3 per text effectively. (Yes I complained, they gave me a $5 credit for 10 texts I only sent once but got charged 58 times)
Global Data costs $20/MB so emailing an average 4MB pic you took with your phone will cost $80. There is a $25 data plan that includes 100MB. BUY IT.
You can turn data roaming off in your phone before you leave. That helps but I still had a 200KB leak of data usage somewhere.
I usually put another prepaid sim in to limit exposure but if you use the VZW sim this is the deal.

Their High Tech, Super Sonic, Futuristic System must have charged you for each tower hop from origin to destination.. and back. :D
