Travelling: Phone apps "refreshing" constantly and for no reason.

Ever since I left the states my phone is constantly "refreshing". If I'm on a web page, it reloads, if I'm watching a video it restarts (with ads, if any), if I'm writing an e-mail or a message in hangouts, it will clear itself or create a draft.

I see that other people have had the same problem. The advice is always to turn off everything in accounts and sync, but that doesn't seem to ever work.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Is the video you're watching on YouTube or other website, rather than on the device itself. YouTube does have ads anyway. According to that thread everything that was refreshing is likely to be online. And someone suggested it's the hotel WiFi causing it, or that they're using 4.0 ICS. Maybe it was misbehaving. .

BTW what country are you in?

It makes no difference. It seems every app that can refresh does, even that (I forget what it's called) HTC-feed-app on the left most screen.

Even the "Apps" menu just self-exited on me.

I'm using the HTC One M8 w/ 4.4.2, but the problem seems identical to the post I linked to above, and at least one other one.

At first I thought I might have damaged the screen in my carry-on, but someone with a Droid Maxx reported the same. Unfortunately, that person in fact did damage their phone on day 2, and so I can't use it to test.

The problem has followed me from Austria to Poland so far, and I'm sure it will follow me in my future destinations.

My phone is also doing this exact thing, as well as my husbands. Lg g5 is what we are using. I would love to know why and get a fix. We are traveling for a year.
