Help Travelling to USA: Can I surf with my country IP there?

horsovski

Newbie
I'm from Europe and I'm travelling to USA next week. I need to be able to be online all the time and access work important sites through my country IP.

Is something like this possible? Can I buy some sort of prepaid SIM there with unlimited mobile data and install VPN or something to have different IP and surf normally like here?

Thanks

ummm,

your IP address does not follow you across the world, it is assigned to you by each carrier you happen to be using at the time.... and it changes even on the same carrier as you move around the country.

My IP address changed a minimum of 4 times in the last week while I am on tour with my motorcycle.

Right now, it is:
Your IP Address Is:
70.196.9.223
City: Maud
State: Texas
Country: US
ISP: Verizon Wireless

3 days ago, I was in Oklahoma and it said I was hosted in "Dallas, Texas" with a different IP address.

and if, you happen to stop in and use a WiFi location the IP address will be what is assigned to that particular WiFi router.

Now, the above was using my WiFi router which is a Verizon MiFi JetPack running LTE.

Here is my cellphone, and I am sitting at the same desk...... notice it is a different IP, and it is hosted thousands of miles away from the previous one. And, I am in a little town of Iowa Park, Texas... just north west of Wichita Falls, Texas.... no where near Dallas or New Jersey.

Now, I just did a refresh, switched my cellphone from the DATA connection to the MiFi router that the laptop is using, and look what my IP address is now on the cellphone.

Bingo! it is the WiFi router's IP address.

Use a VPN that gives you an IP address in the country you require.

I'm actually in Jinan, People's Republic of China, NOT Toronto, Canada. :thumbsupdroid:
Detail About Your IP Address
Country: (CA) Canada
Region: Prince Edward Island
City: Toronto
ISP Name: Digital Ocean Inc.

..this means of course I can get Youtube, Google, Facebook, etc.

Ok I already have a local VPN server set up on my WIN10 computer that I will be using. However, I'm now reading that Tmobile prepaid blocks VPN there and that I must use ipv6 instead? Will that still be possible with my WIN10 VPN and phone?

That appears to be a common solution but I can't say for sure it will work for you. And really, I don't use T-Mobile so I can't even do a test. That's why I was suggesting something else like TeamViewer to fall back on just in case. There is a T-Mobile page here in AF you might want to post your query to where you might get a more definitive answer:
