Guess there will be something good on TV over Christmas ;)

Cool. Does it come with bonus videos?

The one I'd like to see is a compilation of all the cameos the actors did/do with references to thier characters. I know The Big Bang Theory has had a lot of Will Wheaton appearances as well as one from Brent Spiner, Lavar Burton and the voice of Nimoy.

Yes, has all the bonus features.
Really looking forward to this - The Borg, 'Q', 7of9 - oops, sorry wrong series. :)
Yeah, I forgot about Will Wheaton. But nothing's perfect I suppose. :)

My favorite episodes are "Darmok" and "The Nth Degree" in which Wheaton is noticeably absent. :D

Darmok is perhaps one of the greatest pieces of entertainment that's ever been aired in any forum in the history of produced visual entertainment. The Nth Degree is also awesome but I think my 2nd favorite TNG episode would have to be "The Inner Light" ... once TNG got it's groove it really produced some fine Sci-Fi.

That's also a goodie @shalemail :thumbsupdroid: Let's also not forget "I Borg" or "Devil's Due" for a little lighter Trek.

What's the best season, in your opinion?

Ugh ... can't decide. I looked through the episode list and frankly there are excellent episodes in every season from 3 on. The first two seasons ... um ... can we just forget about those please? ;)

I swear, are we related?

Yea I agree. If you remove S1 and S2 the series stands as a masterpiece. If you add in those 2 seasons ... it drops the score from 10/10 to 8.75/10.

I can pick out episodes that are ... stand outs. But seasons? I just don't think I could.

Tapestry
Chain of Command
Yesterday's Enterprise
The Measure of a Man
The Drumhead
ALL GOOD THINGS
I mean it's amazing how many really quality shows they produced. ... I could go on ... there are more that I LOVE ... More that I CAN'T turn off if I see it on.

Clearly we are NOT related. Those episodes would be on my least favorite list.

If we're talking favorites (beyond those already mentioned) Here are mine:

"Tin Man"
"The Hunted"
"Transfigurations"
"Ensign Ro"
"Relics"
"The Survivors"
"Who Watches the Watchers"
"The Enemy"
"A Matter of Perspective"
"Hollow Pursuits"
"First Contact"
"The Next Phase"
"Time's Arrow, Part I"
"Face of the Enemy"
"Gambit, Part I"
"The Pegasus"
"Masks"
"The Most Toys"*
"Attached"*

*I added those last two because they are just goofy enough to be entertaining without being dumb like "The Samaritan Snare" episode with the Pacleds.

But S1 and S2 are still worth watching, right?

For background, sure. ;)

Actually these episodes are rather good ....

"The Last Outpost"
"The Big Goodbye"
"11001001"
"The Neutral Zone"
"The Outrageous Okona"
"The Royale"
"The Emissary"

One of them one an Emmy, even. :D

I'm clearly in need of a refresher course here. My Trek knowledge is lacking. All the more reason to watch the whole lot again.
I'll even try to get my daughter interested.

Like I said, I COULD go on ... and on ... and well on. But I don't need to now that you threw up that list of greats. And look, the ones I mentioned, I mean ... come on Measure of a Man? All Good Things? I know Drumhead is pretty intense, but wow the writing, and Patrick Stewart is amazing in it. He also killed it in Measure of a Man.

Anyway. If you don't want to be my internet brother from another mother I guess I'll try not to be hurt.

:(

Yes please indoctrinate new drones, er I mean lovely people.

And yes, you must watch all seasons even though 1 and 2 have some moments that are nearly painful. I have a huge problem with the production those first 2 years, some of the camera work ... ugh atrocious. But some worthy stories and you need to know what happened later in the series.

*EDIT* ... This is why I (CAN'T) hate Discovery .... yet. It's better than S1 of TNG and well you know how I feel about that series now.

Both the Drumhead and Measure of a Man were a little too preachy for me. If I want morality speeches, I'll watch Shatner in TOS. ;)

All Good Things ... okay. I liked that they tried to wrap up the series rather than let it end with a completely forgettable episode. But, all the jumping around gave me a headache and the plot was a tad lame. The BEST time travel episode in any of the Trek series was in DS9 Tribble remake. THAT was hilarious. Besides, the Vulcan Science Council has determined time travel to be impossible. ;) (Testing your Trek knowledge.)

You need to watch them at least 5 times each to be promoted from Space Cadet to Star Fleet Ensign. ;) I hope your daughter will share it with you.

You mean, of course, "assimilate".

We won't hold that against you ... that much. :p

Call me crazy (er or again) but it's the preachy part of Trek that hooked me. It's BECAUSE of Shatner's morality speeches that I watch Trek in the first place. Well that and all those wonderful toys.

And as far as the Vulcan Science Council ... T'Pol can talk to the Department of Temporal Investigations and suck it.

Good news is that DD is liking the show. Loves the great advice that Deanna offers. "I'm sensing.. <insert blindingly obvious>" :)

Wait until you get to the episode where she loses her empathic abilities and turns into a [don't want to spoil it for you ;)]
