Triumph or One V

Hi, I currently use a blackberry curve 8530 on virgin because my wildfire S crapped out on me after getting it wet. I'm looking to upgrade my phone back to android and want something a little more powerful than the wildfire.

I was curious if there's any news on the One V? The reports claimed it was coming this month but haven't heard of anything about it since.

Is it worth it to keep waiting for the release of the One V and get that or just get a Triumph?

Only thing I'm scared about is all the problems surrounding the Triumph - are they still there even when you flash it with a custom rom because I'm more than willing to do that if it fixes all the problems. One last thing about the triumph, is the reception. Would you guys say it's good? My blackberry gets shotty reception compared to my wildfireS.

Thank you so much, I appreciate any responses!

The One V does not have a removable battery, so when the battery does crap out on you (i.e.; no longer holds a charge) you'll have to mail it in to have it replaced. Meanwhile you're without a phone.

As for the Triumph, I can't honestly give you any advice on that one. You'll need to check out the Triumph forums and see what issues the phone has (research before you buy) so that you can make a better informed decision.

Personally, I'd go with the Optimus Elite, which appears to be a solid phone, much like the Optimus V though with more memory. The Triumph, though it has a nicer screen, has too many problems (as you mention). Plus you have Google Wallet on the Elite which is a nice feature.

DO NOT get the Triumph. It's a POS! I would suggest One V or the Evo V. Maybe even iPhone 4S if you want to spend that much. Anything but the Triumph.

Some Triumphs had little to no issues, some had tons. It's really a bit of a gamble. Wait and see what comes of the One V, imo.

I'd go with the One V. I had a Triumph, and I jumped ship (almost too quickly... $@#T!) With the One V, the iPhone (love or hate it.), the Evo V 4G and the Elite... you have plenty of other awesome choices. The Triumph (IMHO) was a failure. VM has MUCH more to offer.

I had the Triumph, I now have the Evo V 4G, and other than the semi shotty battery life... it rocks. Hands down. My Triumphs (yes... I had 3) all had issues. One had camera issues, the second and third charging ports failed, and GPS NEVER worked on any of mine. And I had my third one long enough to have dust collect under the screen. Not cool.

The very first Triumph I had had no problems except for the GPS (which was fixed by flashing the Sharp ROM). I finally had to get a new Triumph because I dropped a dish on it and cracked the screen.

My replacement had a defective touchscreen so I sent that back and they sent me a brand new one with no problems.

If it was between the MT or One V, I'd definitely go for the One V. If you have a little more to spend and are in a well covered WiMax area, I'd go for the Evo V (what I have now). Even if you're not in a 4G area, I think this is the best phone VM has, and yes, better than the iPhone, which is way overpriced for what it is anyway.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I appreciate it. I think I'm going to keep my Blackberry for now and just wait for the One V to be released. Whenever that will be.

i was in d.c. a wek ago and seen the htc one v in a boost store. if no one has this phone why is it recommended. had triumph pure crap. the evo is awesome. consider it the wildfires big brother

forgive me but i didnt see anyone outside the united states recommending this nor did anyone state they had it

Most people were recommending against the Triumph not necessarily recommending the One V (subtle difference, but it is there). For what it's worth, I have heard pretty good things from people that have the One V. It's not a high end phone (neither is the Triumph), but it is a solid device.

Never had a problem with my triumph... Evo is a great phone by far over all but if u don't want a phone that has issues then the evo is not for u. I'm regretting getting rid of my triumph in the worst way.

Never had a problem with my Evo, went through 6 Triumphs before that though. ymmv :-)

Get anything but the Triumph. It has so many problems with it its unbelievable. I have the EVO V, and it has been fantastic so far. From what I've heard, the Optimus Elite is reliable and the One V looks promising.

So to answer your question, definitely wait for the One V if you aren't considering anything else.

One V. Why the heck would you pay 300 bucks for a outdated device? 200 bucks gets you a ICS, Bluetooth 4.0, a kick-butt camera (feature wise, not MP wise.) And above all, a phone that does not have the scrappy reputation that the Triumph has. I had three of them, and I can say that after Motorola said that it would stay on 2.2... I decided to dump it. Sorry, devs aren't supposed to become support. They are supposed to better the device and make the user experience better than the stock offering. Not become a life line for the device. I love our devs, don't get me wrong.

Long story short, One V>Triumph
