Trouble Mnually Updating HTC Evo

I'm trying to update my HTC Evo to Froyo right now, since HTC just released the update to those who want to manually install it. However, I'm having a bit of trouble. I was told to rename the update file to "update.zip", and put it into the root directory of the phone's SD card, which I did, and then restarted. When the phone started up, I held down the "Volume +" button like it said to do, but the menu that came up didn't have any option to install an update from an SD card; all it had were some bootloader options, and an image at the bottom of 3 androids on skateboards. What am I doing wrong? I really, really want to get Froyo installed on my Evo!

Okay, I realized that I had to select "Recovery" from the aforementioned menu, but when I do that, it just shows me an image of a phone with a red "!" in a triangle, and nothing else happens. I've let it sit like that, but it doesn't change.
