Trouble playing music in my car with auxiliary cord

I got a new Motorola Pro Plus a week ago and I'm having trouble playing music in my car with an auxiliary cord. Music will randomly stop every 3-7 minutes or so, and I'll have to hit Play again AND unplug and plug back the aux cord so that the cord is recognized and doesn't play through my phone speakers. My phone runs Gingerbread. I've never had this problem with my Sansa (ages ago) nor my iPod Touch so I know it's not my car nor the cord. I also don't have this problem when I use my earphones. I've tried to find solutions online, and it was suggested to download the Headset Blocker app. That worked for my 30 minute commute to work this morning which made me really happy, but this afternoon going home my music began to randomly stop again every 3-7 minutes, to my disappointment. Has anyone else heard of this problem and have any advice? I would really like to give away my iPod to my mother, but this problem is holding me back. Thanks.

The problem you are having is exactly what headset blocker is trying to prevent. Some headset jacks are particularly susceptible to vibrations on the cord jack where the phone erroneously thinks its being told to pause and skip through a headset control pin. At least that sounds like your issue.

Maybe disable headset controls in whatever app you use to play music.
