Trouble setting up dual instances of WhatsApp on Note9

Hi,

I did manage to get the two icons showing but when I open the linked version, sms tones
the app wants me to register the phone again. As soon as I do that the original version starts asking about registering the number.
Am I supposed to give it a different phone number?
Is it meant to work only with a dual sim phone?

Either dual sim or you can install Hangouts to get a separate Number for your Hangouts. Which you can use that to register other account.
