Trouble Transferring Pix To SD Card

Hi,
Installed a Samsung 32GB SD card on my S5. I transferred all the pix & vid I had on my on board memory onto the SD card. That went fine, I guess. However, I want to have all new pix & vid automatically sent directly to that SD card. There is no option for that using the settings gear off the camera icon. I hear that means the card is not being recognized by the camera. If I hit the gallery icon, it says there aren't any images in the gallery. But when I go into the storage to see what's available, it shows the SD card w/ appx. 29.2GB total w/ 28.1GB available. And I did put about 1.1GB of pix & vid onto the SD card. Is it there? Can I set up pix & vid to automatically go to the SD card? Thanks.

Actually, there is, you just missed it... hang on, looking for my phone.

.okay.... open the default Camera, now Click on the Gear Wheel....
now, scroll the page UP and down towards the bottom, look for STORAGE LOCATION, click on that and set it to extSDcard. Mine shows "Memory Card" in blue letters after the setting has been done.

Okay, now for some skullduggery.

I will wager that you placed the pictures on the extSDcard in a non-standard folder.
Open your Windows (Linux?) File Manager and click on the Phone/Card/DCIM/Camera

If that folder sequence does not exist, just take a couple of pictures with the settings that I described up above, and that folder will be created.

Now, find all the pictures (where they are) and move them into that ...../Camera folder.

once you do that, Gallery will find them.

If you still are having problems, I highly suggest you use the phone's SD card format utility and format the extSDcard from the phone. Then open the camera, and it will set up the folder sequence I just described.

You do NOT have to do anthing special to "make" Gallery find them, it will automatically read the extSDcard and display it, as well as read the Phone's internal memory in the same exact named location....

Just about the only way to stop Gallery from displaying pictures, is to make a file called ".nomedia" in the folders.

Something else to consider; on my S5 the stock gallery app is slow to register new photos. Don't know why, but my QouckPic (old, pre CM version) will pick them up instantly.

Money! That worked on all counts. The storage location option off the camera gear already said memory card, but of course I couldn't see it. And I indeed had created a unique PHOTOS & VID folder in the SD card storage, though the DCIM folder was still there. Of course, it had no pix or vid in there. Thanks again. I now love my S5 even more.
