True? After OTA Updates a rooted DROID loses root?

Am I correct in my supposition that after applying any OTA update to my Droid that I will lose root? I recently rooted my Droid in order to gain `su` and run root applications such as root explorer and drocap2. After any update, will that be lost?

Pretty sure you won't be getting any OTA updates after you root you phone.

so if i root my phone how do i get the ota update like everyone else???
do i then have to unroot my phone and then wait for the ota???

You don't get updates like everyone else once you are rooted....You'll either have to "unroot" or just use any number of the Rom's that will be developed from that build and just use that. Or if you have a thing for notified updates, just use a CM build and download CM Updater from the market and then bam....anytime there's a new "update" you can download it directly to your sdcard.
