Trying to add T-Mo Nexus 5 on Metro BYOD

I'm aware that the Nexus 5 is not "officially" supported by Metro yet, but that's a problem I can get around. The issue I'm having trouble with is how to get the phone unlocked so it's clear for Metro. I was given the unlock code, but I can't seem to get to the unlock menu. I put in the Metro SIM but it doesn't prompt to unlock. I tried 2945#*820# with the Metro SIM in, with a inactive T-Mo SIM, and with a T-Mo SIM taken from a phone with an active account. All I get is the "There was a connection problem or invalid MMI code" message. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? I just want to put the phone on Metro so I can give it to my mother for her birthday. All help is appreciated.

Was It a tmobile one and if it was tmobile phones don't have to be unlocked to be used on metro but the metropcs ones have to be unlocked to use on tmobile

It was from T-Mobile, and that's what I thought, but when I called to activate it she said "We don't support the Nexus 5 yet, but I'll try to activate it anyway." I gave her the IMEI and she said that the phone was still showing as locked and that it needed to be unlocked before she could activate it. I know she wasn't confused thinking that an account was attached to it or anything, because the phone was my friend's(T-Mo customer), I stood there and watched him remove his account from the phone, we even called T-Mobile afterwards and gave them the IMEI to make sure the phone was clear, it was.

There is no "tmobile" version on the nexus 5. There all the same one google sells. Its just sold by tmobile. There all unlocked. The rep you spoke to was an idiot lol. Now if the imei isnt coming up clear the only cause can be that the phone wasnt paid off thru t mobile and thry blacklisted the imei. If he owes a bill on it still thru tmobile they can blacklist the imei.

I just called T-Mobile again. The IMEI is definitely clear. Maybe it was the Metro rep. I'll try again and see if another rep says the same thing, or can at least elaborate more. If that doesn't work, I guess I'll take it to an authorized dealer tomorrow and get price gouged. I mean, ss long as they can get it up and running.

Yea no gsm nexus device has ever been sim locked. No matter what carrier sells it. There the same exact phone google sells thru the play store. The rep had no clue what she was doing. They "support" nexus devices as theres plenty of people using them. Id try calling again to see if you get a better trained rep before you waste the money to go in. Just tell em you have an unlocked nexus phone and a sim and wanna activate it.

You were right, the other Metro rep was an idiot. Called back and she activated it with no problems. Thanks for the tip. I'll delete this thread now.
