I had to do a factory reset due to a bad rebooting loop. Nothing was backed, so I am now trying to recover my data with a program. I have to root my phone first though.
Now, the program is stuck on 99% in windows and my phone is showing that green little alien with "Downloading... Do Not Turn Off Target!!!" written bellow it. That's the only thing on the screen. I dunno how I should progress now, it has been like this for over an hour at least. How long should it take normally? If I have to restart, does it mean that it's rooted now, or do I need to try again?

I am on a Windows 10 comp
My phone is Samsung galaxy s3 mini (GT-i8190 I think)

If it's stuck in download mode do a battery pull then reboot.
I guess it could be possible that the device is now rooted but i would doubt it.

It would be guaranteed to be rooted if you used a proper method such as using a TWRP or CWM recovery and a SuperSU zip.

OK, I looked into TWRP and CWM, and I can't really say that I know how to use them or even install them properly. You call them recovery (programs?), can I use them to get back my data?

They aren't recovery programs. Once data is lost, it's usually gone for good. Unless you used other apps to back up data.

Just wondering... Have you ever rooted the device before? Because if not, no app is going to restore any data. You would have had to have been rooted to backup the data in the first place.

So, sorry to say, there is no hope of retrieving your lost data. But if you do get root, download Titanium Backup for future use...

Here's a guide to rooting your phone (s3 mini):

No pc needed for this either, btw...
