Help Turn off camera sounds & POP email settings

Hi all - a new visitor here from the HTC Desire sub-forum.

Just bought an X10 Mini for the wife, and I have two questions.

1) Is there any way to turn off the camera sounds?

2) I'm trying to setup a POP tiscali email account, using the gmail SMTP server so that it will work when on either WiFi or mobile signal (TalkMobile). This was easy enough on my Desire, but I just get 'Authentication Error' when attempting to setup the account . I think this is because the idiots at SE have helpfully removed the 'Log In' checkbox from the account setup pages when modifying Android for the X10 mini. I realise that I can probably use K9, but would rather use the native app if possible (although if it's as pants at the text app, probably not for long).

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Based on the information I have currently available, the camera sound can not be turned off. In regards to the email problem, this could be several things, however I hate to say it but making use of a third party email application such as K9 would certainly be an easier way to go.
