Turn off email notification sounds on my Samsung Galaxy Proclaim

How can I turn off the notification sound whenever I get an email ? Samsung Galaxy Proclaim Straight Talk, Verizon carrier.
 
The email app should have a notification setting in its menu. Do you know which app you are using for email? Please let us know the name of the app and ask again or register to reply
 
You need to access Account settings, not app settings. Email is brought to your phone via an account. So go to Settings > Accounts > [Account name - which you created when you created the email account]. There are numerous settings including the notification tone (set it to Silent).
