I have p3100 samsung tab 2 7inch. This model has a sim card. I want to use it as a tablet and as a phone. I do not want to hold it up to my ear though, but rather talk while the tablet is flat or on its stand or maybe holding it shoulder level for when I am walking around. Thie issue is the proximity sensor turns the display off so it is difficult to input additional numbers for a phone menu. It is also disconcerting to be talking to a dark screen and it is difficult to get the display back without ending the phone call. I have to play a coordination game pressing the proximity sensor as I hold the phone. I would really like to turn the dang sensor off. is there a app that does this? It does not seem to be a setting on the phone.

In response to your question about the changing of proximity...in the settings (about device) go to where they are referring to " motion & gestures" there you should find " gyroscope calibration" I believe you can un-check it or at least set the proximity by laying it on flat even surface....hope you find your answer...inquisitivemind
