Are there any games similar to final fantasy in the market? I'm looking for the type of RPG where you wander around a world map until you enter a random battle and the select from a menu whether you want to use a magic spell, item,attack, etc.

Spectral souls is like FF tactics. FPSE will run PS1 JRPG games and you can play old JRPG games on SNESoid and Gameboid. I do not recall any JRPG games native to android most are action rpgs

Spectral souls looks like a good game. I'm not familiar with FF tactics. How is the gameplay different from a traditional FF game. From the screenshots it looks like the battles are still turned based. Do you also wander around a world map in search of random battles and enter different towns?

Unlike the traditional JRPG a tactical RPG you move you characters as well as attack. Many attacks have a range so you will have to be a certain number of squares away from an enemy to attack. Think advanced wars meets FF

There's an enjoyable one called 'Gurk, the 8-bit RPG' for free download on the marketplace.

It's got a very old-school look about it, but a cracking control system for a touchscreen game and it's quite good fun.
