Turning Off Certain Phone Capabilities

Hey Everyone,
I just joined the site and have been playing around with development for Android platforms for the past few weeks.

Is it possible to write code which allows an app to limit the sending and receiving of text messages and phone calls, kinda like airplane mode, over a certain period of time?

Any input will be helpful!

Thanks,
Droidster

Yes apparently it is possible!
But it seems you're a little late, someone else has already done it. :)

Today while browsing some apps I came across one that allows you to turn off all communications at a specified time and then turn them back on at another time. Perfect for when you go to sleep and then wake up the next day. It does it all automatically.
I think the name had "Sleep" in it. Or maybe "Dreams"?

Tasker can do this already, but if there's an app that's specifically designed to do that, it's probably a better choice.

But what about controlling if a phone call is displayed? For example, I want to sleep but if my Mom or some other important person calls me I want to hear what they have to say. Could you establish within the coding some way for only "chosen" numbers or contacts to be visible when calling and block out the rest?
