Help turns self off!

my portal seams to occasionally go off, no reason for it it just goes off, or at least crashes so it appears off, then i have to pull the battery to fix it.

anything known to cause this?

(rooted, samdroid kernel)

This may sound like an obvious thing, but has the SIM been inserted fully so it clicks in? A mate had a similar thing happen with his phone (also a portal) and it was simply a case of he hadn't pushed the SIM in all the way to get the click.

Same Thing happens to me, i think its because the sim card isnt inserted proprerly, like in the sd card it fits in perfectly, but its impossible in this phone

i know why it goes off but have not yet figured out how to fix it...

if your screen is locked (like when its in your pocket) and you tap the 'hangup' button then a menu appears, the default selection is 'turn off' its no stretch of imagination to think that when about your daily business this button may get tapped a few times, result, phone off.

i need to find a way to remap this button, so this menu wont come up

I had a similar problem that my phone would keep re-booting itself. It had nothing to do with the power off button mentioned, as it sometimes happened when it was unlocked and in use. I was about to send it back to t-mobile for repairs but they said it could take upto two weeks before I got it back. I was also get process errors when the phone re-boot. In the end I deleted a few apps to free up more memory. Since then it hasn't re-booted itself or had a process error. Not sure it's the same problem for you, but it's worth a try.

Happened to me once. Restored it to factory settings and haven't encountered it since. Before I got the random rebooting issue though, I had frequent FCs at startup so maybe something got corrupted. Backup before you do a reset.
