Accessories TV OUT CABLE

ELTONVW

Lurker
Champs, my GALAXY TAB2 10.1 does not want to connect with my Samsung Plano TV.
i have tried connecting the ORIGINAL TV Out Cable - no luck. TV does not have HDMI/USB capability.
How do I connect? Any additional components required? I attach images of TV ports & Samsung cable.

I know this is very "out dated" instruments I am using, but so be it.

You've not included a photo of the cable you have, but that's just component input on the TV. If your current adapter provides HDMI output you should be able to find a box to convert that to component AV. I suspect that will be the simplest way (depending on what your tablet supports, e.g. MHL or not, it may be possible to find a single adapter to connect the two, but there are a lot of compatibility "gotchas" to look out for there, and I'm not familiar with that particular tablet).

@Hadron here is the cable @hadro

That looks like an RCA connection which is what is on the side of your TV based on your photos in the first post.

Correct it is. Samsung retailer advised can be used for viewing on TV from Tab2.

I asked for assistance, not sarcasm. Thank you
I don't think that was sarcasm. Hadron us quite level headed and helpful. I think the confusion is that I've never seen a connection like that on a phone or tablet. The closest I can think of is the old 30-pin (correct??) connector that iPhones used to use.

Exactly. My thought was that I've never seen an Android tablet with a socket that would fit that connector, so I was confused as to how it could be used at all.

I have that tablet and yes, that is very much like the 30 pin connector. In fact it may be that connector. Mine goes from that to USB in order to hook to the charging block or my computer. That wide end looks very similar to the older apple products

These guys here ALL try very hard to help everyone. The ONLY sarcasm I have ever seen out of any of them is when they are OBVIOUSLY poking at one another so just relax and someone will try to answer your question!

Does the tablet even have a socket that fits that?

I believe some of the older Samsung Tabs had a connector like that, which looks like the old iPhone dock connector, but it isn't of course.

The OP's Galaxy Tab2, depending what generation it is, probably uses MHL. And so would need MHL to HDMI, and then a digital HDMI to analog RCA or phono plug converter box. I presume the OP's TV is an old CRT one or something,

Possibly a cable like this might work.

Hmm, now that I know what it is I've tried to do a bit of searching. Unfortunately what I've found so far has mostly been people on XDA or Amazon reviewers who have bought cables like that and reported that they don't work with the Tab 2.

Do you know precisely which Tab 2 model you have (there are usually several model numbers for any Samsung device - Pxxxx is probably the format, maybe in the About Device part of the system Settings)? It sounds like there are some cases where different models with the same name behave differently (e.g. things that work in US models but not European).

Hadron has it correct. Most Tab2's will not connect to any TV other than wirelessly because they don't have the hardware capability. They expected everyone to be able to connect their TV's wirelessly thru bluetooth or AllShare
