Help two issues i am not sure how to fix

Lurker
hey all. i believe this is my first post but been checking the forums for some time. i have an at&t S3 and have recently noticed two things that i am not sure where to even begin to fix.

the first is that the stock music player will sometimes automatically start playing when a notification comes in, usually a text message. this is especially concerning at work when i leave my phone plugged in, and i am meeting with clients and begin to hear something from my phone. usually an audio book, but still. no idea whats going on there

2nd issue is that sometimes when i press the home button at the bottom of the phone to wake it, it will automatically load up the voice recorder. this is not a big issue, but more of a nuisance..

if anyone has any thoughts on these two things, i really appreciate it.

thanks.

Will try to see if I can help...

You can change the tone that a notification plays within the sound settings of the phone. When you do this it will change it for all notifications that use the default notification sound setting (Some apps will over-rode and use separate ones). it's possible that you have changed this default to a music file on your phone. Go and look there Settings/Sound/Default notifications. Also check the Sound and Vibrate setting as well.

In addition to this you can also change the default notification for a particular person's phone number. Go into that person's Contact and edit it. Check the default ringtone. I stand corrected on this 2nd part, I think you can only change the default ringtone and vibration for an individual contact, not the notification sounds.

Lastly go into the offending app itself (Like messaging) and then go into it's settings. See if it has the ability to change it from within the app. The default text message app allows you to do so.

As for the 2nd item. Does it activate the voice recorder or S Voice?

S Voice is activated by double tapping the Home key. Perhaps when you are pressing it you are actually double tapping it or perhaps the button is not working correctly and it's relaying a double tap to the operating system even though you are single tapping it?

If you are not sure what is opening when you do it try it again but say into the microphone "Launch Clock" and wait a few seconds. See if it starts the Clock App. if this is what it is doing than it's launching S Voice when you press it. Normally it takes a double press to launch S Voice.
