Root twrp confusion

harold95

Newbie
so i rooted my lg g stylo, successfully. installed link2sd, formatted my sd card, 1/2 ext2 1/2 fat32.
backed up my systed using flashify, installed the twrp img file.

so now, how do i access twrp?

i tried the power button and volume down, and i get to a screen that asks for a yes or no for a factory data reset, which is not what i want to do. or is it?

i've only ever used cwm. so with this new phone and twrp, i'm hesitant to proceed further.
i don't want to destroy what i've painstakingly set up, but i want to look at twrp and make sure i know how to use it when the time comes.

anyone?
thanks in advance...
harold

ok, i tried the recovery reboot app, that didn't work so i tried the power/volume down and answered yes twice. my phone just rebooted.

it wasn't reformatted. :) so that's ok, i didn't loose it all.

somehow twrp isn't there.
i reflashed it again too.
still not there.

If the TWRP doesn't flash try downloading the img file again, or try from another source.

@Blu8 does different Stylo make a difference in rooting and recovery install? Curious. Want to run something else on mine. Unfortunately the Stylo ATR forum is a mess and I didn't see any thread dedicated to TWRP install.. ?

I was asking about the carrier variant, that is do you have a T-Mobile, MetroPCS, or Boost/Sprint/Virgin Stylo?
@Spec2nirvash
Look around the stickied threads for that info. Only T-Mobile and MetroPCS Stylo's have unlocked bootloaders. If you have a boost or any other carrier Stylo there is only root, no twrp or roms. As for the rooting methods, I rooted mine months ago so I'm not sure of the procedures are 100% the same.

i was able to flash superSU beta with twrp, and accessed the system folder and copied a file to it. so i think i worked around it.
