Type faster on Your smartphone/tablet/etc...

I do use Swiftkey and it's my default.

I believe the article is not focusing on using this method on all your typing needs but to assigned a specified sentence/phrase you always type on a regular basis.

For example, let's say you always text someone everyday after you leave work:

"Do you need anything in the store?"

If you type this sentence all the time, you can speed up the writing by assigning that sentence to a few characters eg. ais ( anything in store ) and text expander will expand ais to the full sentence.

Maybe it's not for everyone, but a few may think it's a neat tip on assigning frequently typed sentences/phrases to a few characters to speed up the writing.

Cheers

Off the top of my head, there is only one instance where this would be useful. Most of the time, the text prediction of SwiftKey is good enough. I can see some uses for keyboard macros. One person I correspond with online makes good use of keyboard shortcuts on the iOS keyboard.

I have to go with Stuntman on this, I call Swiftkey the best keyboard out there for NOT typing!!!! After saying something like "Good Morning, how did you sleep?" twice at most, you can just predict your way through it the rest of your life, lol. I do understand that some people might like to create a short cut for the same thing though, and I think it just comes down to personal preference as they are probably equally fast. The only problem I have ever had with short cuts on another keyboard is once you have a bunch of them it's hard to remember which one is what, lol.

I'm the same, use SwiftKey. It just seems very intuitive at predicting the next word with some common phrases I use, e.g. "What are you doing?" is frequently used on Wechat with students, just have to type W A Y D ? Don't have to setup or remember any macros with it, it's automatic. It even remembers and predicts my most visited URLs as well, with the browser, A N D, gives "androidforums.com". Don't have to remember anything, the choice is offered.
