typing in times using the on-screen keyboard

Is there an easier way to type in times using the on-screen keyboard? If I want to type 8:45, I need to put in 8, then select it from the popup choice list of words that start with 8. Then a colon, yep. Then I put in 45, and select it from the Swype list. But that makes it 8: 45. Having to go back and delete the space Android puts in after the ':' is annoying... You'd think it could recognize that I'm typing a time, and adjust it's behavior accordingly. I was going to put in an Android feature enhancement request, then I thought "Well, maybe there's a trick I don't know-- better check with the forums first." Anybody got a tip for me here? TIA...

Behavior varies by keyboard.

I strongly recommend SwiftKey X - it's fast, it's predictive, and its primary alternative numbers / symbol keyboard (it has two) doesn't have the problem you describe.

I switched to Swiftkey X back when it was still a free beta. Great app!

I type like a pro on the desktop thanks to a couple of decades of typing, but like a newb on the phone even with Swiftkey X.

Damn my big thumbs!

Okay, thanks all for the input-- just got Swiftkey X.
1) Boy is that hard to get used to hunt-and-peck again, after Swyping for so long! Well, in the settings there's a "Gesture sensitivity: distance required to trigger swiping gesture." What the heck is that? I assume I'll get used to it eventually.
2) What's up with the underline under the word my cursor is on?
3) And under Stats, is anyone else buying the "XX% more efficient"??? Kinda sounds like I'm being told a story, much like "We're looking for WMD's", except that was at least plausible-- here, how the heck do I know where that number comes from? "Oh, you wanna know how much more efficient you are thanks to our software? Oh, OK, yeah, let's see, if I told you 100% then you wouldn't buy it, so let's go for... 42%, for now. Yeah, yeah, that's the ticket..."
4) Looking through the settings, I find the "Spacebar will..." choices. Um, aren't "complete the current word" & "always insert a prediction" two ways of saying the EXACT same thing?

Thanks for the help!
