Uber drivers in New York are taking advantage of a new policy that allows drivers to form groups to protect themselves. These groups will lobby and campaign for their needs and beliefs. Such groups were prohibited until Uber made a settlement in California that eventually brought the policy into play. The groups sound like unions, but they aren't, and as such all they can really do is band together and hope that more voices will bring more change.
