Ubuntu 11.10 64-bit Not Loading After Splash Screen

I am trying to install Ubuntu 11.10 on my laptop yet it's giving me a few problems with the monitor.

I was successful in installing Ubuntu side by side with Windows 7 through my installation DVD that I created. Then it told me to reboot my computer to complete the installation so I did just that. My computer booted back up and showed the Toshiba BIOS splash screen then proceeded to finish installing Ubuntu. At this point, every time that I try, it sits at a black screen for hours. The computer is still on, lights are on, disc is making noise in the drive, and I even heard the Ubuntu drum sound go off. But the monitor is completely turned off. I even tried hooking the HDMI up to my tv to see if it was just my monitor, nope. It still wouldn't show.

My older Compaq 64-bit computer did this same thing except that it would only stay on the blank screen for a few seconds then go to the Ubuntu choose screen.

I went into Windows 7 and uninstalled Ubuntu and then rebooted my computer with the installation DVD in the drive to install it once again. It booted again, went through the Toshiba splash but when I tried to install Ubuntu, it went to the black screen again.

I've seen this problem reported on other sites on the web yet no one has come up with a solid solution. Should I maybe try a slightly older version? Is it my computer or the graphics card?
==================
My computer specs are:
-Toshiba Satellite L755
-AMD A6-3420M APU with Radeon HD Graphics 1.50 GHz
-4.00 GB RAM (3.47 GB usable)
-64-bit processor
-and it has a sticker on it that says "Quad Core and AMD Radeon Graphics" if that gives more details

Hmm.... did you happen to check the image after you burned it? Maybe it didn't complete or got corrupted somehow, that's my only guess. Though, whenever that has happened with me, the install failed.

I got a brand new computer recently but this same install DVD worked on my previous computer. Not successful because it kept crashing towards the end of the installation but then I found out that it was actually due to a faulty hard disk. That hard disk is like 6+ years old and has been written to many times.

Plus I tried installing 11.10 from a .iso image using CloneDrive on the computer so it can't be a faulty copy unless if both copies are faulty. I'm trying to download 11.04 now and see if it's just a matter of my computer not running with 11.10.

I'm shooting in the dark here, kind of. My laptop ethernet/wireless combo in my laptop is supported by major distros but, Ubuntu, Mint and others crashed hard during boot or just after login. Turns out its a small bug in the start sequence.

After a Google, I found a solution. In the BIOS make the Network Card boot first, then HDD, etc. and also enable PXE Boot. Give it a try and let us know. :)

Thanks :) Only problem with that is that I need the DVD tray to be first in the list because I'm trying to install from a DVD, ya know what I mean? Should it still work even if I change it and try installing through........wait a minute. I know how it'll work. I'll try it. I forgot that it installs to the HD then I can take out the DVD and try opening Ubuntu without the DVD lol I'll try that. Can you send me a link to that Google link that you got so I can have the sequence down 100%
