Ubuntu and win7 issues

I just did my Ubuntu install dual booting with 7 now when I boot I get no option to boot to Ubuntu just straight to 7. What do I do?

But of course, if you already have installed Ubuntu and then Windows, then you probably don't want to do it again. First, let me warn you about Google searching this one because there's a lot of very old information out there that could make things worse. There are a number of different ways to address this each adding a layer of complexity and only required if the previous, simpler, steps don't work.

If you did install Windows after Ubuntu then Windows wrote the boot record. To fix this the first thing I recommend is running the boot-repair disk. It's easy and hopefully will work.

iF that doesn't work then, as a second step, we'll use a LiveCD and boot from there after which we will fix your boot record. But hopefully boot-repair is all you will need.

ah well, just saw your reply. Try boot-repair anyway. Unless you've been playing deep with the partitions (aka using DISKPART) your record information should be there and this may be fixable easy.

agagin windows boots fuine and dandy and if i have my ubuntu flash drive in the port and i boot to it i get the GRUB boot menu so i can boot to the install of ubuntu witch i am on now talking to you

Are you sure? I am not. Sounds to me like you installed ubuntu, something didnt quite work and you are actually booting to your "live USB" when you have the USB drive in and NOT an installed Ubuntu. Maybe you didnt even install ubuntu at all?

Again, if you still see the windows boot manager (or no boot manager at all) then grub isnt installed properly so for the 5th time, replace your MBR!!! (Unless you havent installed Ubuntui and just running Live - in which case, install ubuntu)

Did you read the guide?

what do you mean replace our MBR and im almost positive it didnt i can log into my preconfigured account that i made in setup and everything

Your not our. Typo.

What do you mean what do I mean? Master Boot Record = MBR... All in the guide!!!! If you read the guide, you may see something that you didnt do or you did something thats not in the guide.

Maybe you even installed it on USB ;)
