Root Ubuntu/linux for droid 2

Theres an app called "linux installer" in the market. Its says my kernel doesn't have the necessary features. Extra 2 and 3 support. Loop support. How do I get that? I haven't been able to find a custom kernel.
 
For the second time, you can't install a custom kernel on the D2 because the bootloader is locked.
 
Carriers are crooks. Its our phones, we should be able to do whatever. Maybe ill go to a net 10 when my contract is out. Or maybe an iphone! ( i cant believe i just said that) iphones dont have the problems androids but iphones are exactly golden either. Just a rant sorry. It pisses me off that manufactures/carriers control that much on a phone/service plan.
